About Me

I will post things in this blog to keep track of fun stuff  along the lines of Web, Operating Systems, Programming  and the like.

I’m Boanerges, research scientist working in Zhong Lab, in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, at Rice University.

The initial motivation to write stuff here is the O’Reilly review program (icon and link below).
I review for the O'Reilly Blogger Review Program

However, I later found it useful to write recipes and stuff that I expect my partner to be bored to hear from me (that is, instead of going to conversation topic, it goes to the blog).

Wish-list:

  • 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, upgraded to core i7 and with the protection plan
    • or, ASUS UX303 (lowest price: $1165, Aug-2014), 13.3″ at 3200 x 1800 resolution, 12GB RAM, 256 SSD, core i7

Things I’ve read/listened online that went deep down into my feelings:

  • Death of Leelah Alcorn (After reading the note, I promise that I’ll lovingly accept my child’s decisions about gender).
  • Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. After 9/11, every time I see the time and it is 9:11, I remember the victims on the attack. Since 12/14/2012, I remember the victims of the elementary school shooting every time that I see 12:14 on the clock. It pains me to even imagine what the parents of the children had and will continue to go through for the rest of their lives. May God (or mother nature because I don’t believe in God most of the time) help your hearts.
  • “… there are some things so dear, some things so precious, some things so eternally true, that they are worth dying for. And if a man has not discovered something that he would die for, he ain’t fit to live”. -MLK, December 7, 1964
